As teachers, we often struggle with our students following directions. I know—the biggest understatement of the year! We often wonder why this is so difficult and if there are any tools to help with this problem. I have been teaching for over 25 years and along that journey, I have tried and tested many resources! My first following directions resource has been adjusted, tweaked, and improved as my teaching has progressed! It has a variety of visual pictures to help you as a teacher in every aspect of the day! When trying to help students follow directions, I needed something quick and simple, and this next product proved useful. Sometimes, as educators, we get too complicated and we overthink ideas. This is not that! It’s a quick hitter while navigating the school day. You can put the pictures together according to the activity or individualize them for students struggling in certain areas!
Build-A-Snowman & Build-A-Dinosaur Following Directions Activities
These next two resources are part of an ongoing following directions bundle. I tried to think about my students this year and their likes and interests. We have students who LOVE the art center so that factored in. We have boys who can’t get enough of dinosaurs- OK- let’s make following directions fun! You get the idea. These resources can be used during whole-group instruction, small-group instruction, one-on-one when taking data for IEPs, and at an art center! They are versatile and interactive!
