A word wall is pretty integral to your classroom setup. It is often used during whole-group instruction, and it usually is interactive! It helps with alphabet recognition, beginning sounds, and early reading skills! I have tweaked my word wall a bazillion times to get it right where I want it, and I thought I would share it with you!!! Even better, I am adding all of the steps and materials that I use!
- Get some colored tag paper.
- Buy my adorable word wall product! Check it out BELOW!
- Cut out the pieces and glue them onto the tops of the tag paper.
- Laminate each colored tag paper with the letter.
- Attach 3-4 pieces of Velcro– pretty neatly spaced out.
- Print out all of the vocabulary cards. (cards for each letter, thematic cards)
- I have free environmental print that I put at the top of the card. Just search free environmental print on Teachers Pay Teachers.
- Attach rings to each vocabulary set for easy storage. There are circles in the top left corners for you to hole punch.
- Attach circle magnets to the corners of the letter mats. I have a magnetic board. If you don’t, staple them onto your bulletin board.
- I position the last row first. I put the last 5 letters and then work up to 3 rows of 7.
- VOILA! Enjoy!
