Naptime Blues

We are reaching the home stretch to summer and are currently experiencing the “naptime blues”. If you are a preschool teacher, you know what I mean. Maybe these blues begin right at the start. Some preschoolers don’t like to nap and never really get into the swing of the school’s sleep schedule. Can you relate? It can be frustrating for you and for them. The calming music is playing, you’re in your groove to get some work done, and there are always one or two students whispering your name, asking to use the bathroom, humming, moving their cot around….

How should we combat this? If you are like me and my co-teacher, we have really exhausted talking to them about it. So…. I have made a few products that I’m using with them, and it seems to keep them busy!

Let me know if you have ideas around this! I would love to hear about them!

First one up- my Spring Assessment Book/ Spring Busy Book…

Spring Busy Book- Naptime Blues

This is a little tedious to set up, but the kids love it. It keeps them busy for a good 15-20 minutes. The only drawback is the velcro sound, which can be tuned out pretty easily. There are 10 literacy activities and 10 math activities. It is easy enough to do independently, but engaging enough to hold their attention. This is the first tool to help with those naptime blues!

I have created 4 of them to use throughout the school year- Back to School/ Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer! Grab them all in the bundle to get 20% off!

Busy Book BUNDLE- Naptime Blues

If you are thinking that you want something a little simpler…. these are for you! They are color-by-code sheets with easy-to-follow color dots. I print them out, attach each one to a clipboard, and get a 24-color crayon box. It’s easy to use for non-nappers, and they stay engaged for about 15 minutes, depending on their coloring skill level. Just a quick side note- tell them you will see the end result when they are all done. They tend to want to show you after each color.
