Labeling body parts is an integral part of early development in a child’s life. It is a foundational skill that parents and teachers teach to help children develop their language and communication. I have many ESL (English as a second language) students as well as students with special needs. This thematic unit is an awesome beginning unit for my school year.

Body Parts BUNDLE
Body Parts Thematic Unit
Use this unit to teach your students about body parts. All activities are created around Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards. There are four language/literacy activities and four math activities. A lesson plan for the week and a data sheet to assess all of the activities are included!
Included in this unit are the following activities:
Language/ Literacy Activities
- vocabulary cards (29 total!)
- writing/coloring/ or Play-Doh cards (YOU PICK)
- body parts matching game (differentiated with 25 squares or 9 squares)
- head parts labeling activity (differentiated with pictures/words or just words)
Math Activities
- body parts counting cards
- categorizing pictures and sorting them into head or body parts
- sizing different body parts
- positional word game with visual cards (differentiated with varying colors of the eye and different nose skin colors)
Body Parts Vocabulary BOOM Cards™
These 30 task cards cover the following Preschool Language/Literacy Standard. I can identify real-life connections between words and their use. For each slide, two answers are wrong and one is correct.
*There is a sound icon under the real photo of the body part that the student can press to hear the name of the body part.
Counting Body Parts BOOM Cards™
These 26 task cards cover counting body parts after listening to the question with the sound icon and picking the correct amount using one-to-one correspondence. For each slide, two answers are wrong and one is correct.

Body Parts Google Slides™
This digital thematic unit on Body Parts includes 4 literacy activities and 5 math activities.
LITERACY ACTIVITIES:
- Drag and drop the letters to spell the body parts with and without a model
- Clap the syllables in the body parts and drag and drop the correct amount into the box.
- Compare words to see if they rhyme. Drag and drop the thumbs up or the thumbs down.
- Drag and drop the beginning letter for the body part when sounding out the word.
MATH ACTIVITIES:
- Drag and drop the numbers 1-10 onto the toes to count them and to put the numbers in order.
- Add body parts together up to 10.
- Count body parts using one-to-one correspondence.
- Measure body parts with a ruler.
- Compare head parts and drag the greater than, equal to, or less than sign into the box.
